The entire Zheninghai series was simply awesome! There was a wonderful mix of magic in a world that was similar to Japanese or Chinese ways of life. When so many fantasy books seem to follow a more conventional European-type way of life, this series was a breath of fresh air! Suitable for young adults, but an awesome read for older readers, too! I will not admit my age, but I have kids in their 20s, yet I thoroughly enjoyed these books! I highly recommend this entire series!!
Happy with my purchase
I adored this book and I'm so excited that The Signed Bookshop had a special edition. GORGEOUS naked hardcover, beautiful edges, and so many extra swag! I adore this company and that they give 80% back to the indie authors. Amazing!
These books are beautiful and the Signed Book Shop has once again surpassed my expectations for packaging and delivery.
I received my order in great condition however I was missing a bookmark. The Signed Bookshop was quick to reply back and fulfill my order, which I was grateful for! Overall great service! I would definitely keep an eye out for more books that have exclusive editions and purchase more from here in the future!!
I have yet to read these, but I was very drawn in from the covers alone. I love cozy fantasy, so I am excited to dive in!
Absolutely beautiful! I’m so glad I added the special edition to my collection. From the story, wonderful characters, endpapers, cover, to the stunning sprayed edges I love everything about it.
This is a super quick and light read, very cute regency romance that has a fairy tail feeling (this is actually inspired by the 6 swans fairy tail)
The main characters are very sweet right from the start, I really enjoyed their witty conversations and the mistery sorounding the FMC Jules.
We learn that she has been cursed by the fae, but we don't know what that entails, as she cannot talk about it. Nickolas gets cought up in the middle, and ends up allying himself to Jules to help her break her curse.
The story is very fast paced and we're taken on a journey full of twists and intrigue, in order to figure out what's going on with Jules and the grumpy bird she brings with her everywhere.
Even tough this is a standalone in a shared world, I still felt like I should've read the first book. Thre's certain things regarding the world that I believe were explained in the first book, plus we have the main couple from the first book showing up, as well as Nickolas and Jules being introduced in the first one, so I really think it works better when read in order! I felt like I would've liked to see more character development, but also that I would've liked this characters even more if I'd read the first book.
Within The Hollow Heart by Melissa Wright is an absolute gem of a novel and I'm so thankful to the author and Book Of Matches Media for allowing me to read/review it!
Book 2 in the Ravenwilde series, this book is a standalone novel in a shared world and everything that my fairytale, fake dating, break-the-curse dreams are made of. I absolutely loved both Jules and Nickolas and was so happy with how their story ended! Anyone who loves fantasy, fae, magic, historical elements or Disney films will love this book! I highly recommend it 💜
I finished Within The Hollow Heart this weekend and was surprised at how quickly I fell for the characters! Nickolas and Jules were great together as an unlikely pair, very grumpyxsunshine vibes, with Jules being the more serious one. The mystery of Jules was intriguing and the twists at the end were not expected at all!
My favorite character was absolutely Frederick. The way this grumpy, beady-eyed, fluffy bird was described was hilarious. I highlighted so many passages of his little facial expressions and antics. I know he’s a side character, but I’m a sucker for any kind of animal sidekicks and Fredrick filled that role for me.
Within The Hollow Heart was a cozy, charming tale I really enjoyed. The story was fast paced and entertaining and I read it out in one sitting.
This is a regency inspired YA fantasy romance that gave us some hilarious moments, great banter, quirky characters, mystery, curses, family secrets, betrayal and more.
Our MC's, Nickolas and Jules were likable characters. You heart will go out to Nickolas with all he'd been through due to his mother's manipulations.
Jules was strong and witty and her quick thinking was able to get Nickolas out of a precarious situation after his mother's plotting. The side characters were wonderful additions to the story especially the judging bird!
The story took us on quite an adventure and the mystery surrounding Jules was intriguing. It was a slow burn tale that was told from Nickolas POV. This was a light hearted tale with sweet moments and hilarious conversations and was a great palette cleanser. I would definitely recommend it.
Love the package and merches so much! Though haven't read yet to save it for the best, i know this book will keep my feet afloat. Would purchase more from this shop ❤️
Within the Hollow Heart is book 2 in the Rivenwilde series. This is a complete standalone in a shared world! This Historical Fantasy, Romantic Fantasy is around 200 pages and has a mild steam/heat level! This book has great characters! Jules is such a smart, and loving character! This book definitely has characters you will fall in love with and characters you will hate! The author did such a great job with the world building! If you are looking for a quick romantic fantasy you should try this one!
Tropes: idiots to lovers, fake dating, fae curse, break the curse, meddling in-laws, misunderstood rake, spooky forest, the hand flex, and a dubious bird.
If you enjoy Half a Soul, Enchantment of Ravens, and Little Thieves then definitely check this one out!
What a beautiful edition! And all the extra goodies were a bonus! Another fun read! Nickolas has earned his reputation as a rake and a wild one, but he's trying to change and ends up wrongfully accused of committing a crime. His mother is trying to match him up with conniving women who only want him for his station. A chance encounter in a garden lands him in a fake engagement with a girl from the chancery. Jules is facing issues of her own and needs his connections to try to solve her problems. Will they be able to help each other out of their situations, or will the fae prince ruin both of them?
