A resident of Franklin, Tennessee, Athena is a tenured teacher in Williamson County Tennessee and also works in the children's department at the John P. Holt Brentwood Library. Athena's dream to author children's books began while earning her graduate degree at Belmont University. Athena collaborated with Donte' Jackson to bring Herbie Vore the Dinosaur to life in her first published book, Herbie's Happy Birthday!
